On Monday, the Elm Grove Eagles hosted the Rusheon Rams in their district openers.
The 7th grade team lost a heartbreaker in the last minute and a half as Rusheon pulled away with a 37-34 victory late. The Eagles played well defensively, but Rusheon’s big man proved to be the difference down the stretch as he had 21 points, and 18 of those were in the paint.
In the 8th grade game, the Eagles got off to a quick start against the Rams and although the Rams kept it close most of the game, the Eagles full court press and half court defense was the difference.
