Parkway Dominates Woodlawn 56–6 Behind Williams and Smothering Defense

Story by Wes Merriott

Bossier City — On a night filled with Senior Night festivities at Preston Crownover Stadium, the Parkway Panthers gave their home crowd plenty to cheer about. The Panthers overwhelmed the Woodlawn Knights 56–6, combining an explosive offensive attack with a defense that looked as if it was playing in Woodlawn’s backfield all night.

Senior quarterback Kaleb Williams was nearly flawless. He completed 14 of 17 passes for 204 yards and five touchdowns, posting a blistering 268.4 passer rating. His command of the offense left no doubt, finding receivers in stride and spreading the ball across the field. Freshman quarterback Brylan Washington added to the fireworks, stepping in late to complete 4 of 6 passes for 39 yards and a touchdown.

On the ground, Parkway showed balance, racking up 173 rushing yards and two more scores. In total, the Panthers gained 416 yards on just 44 plays—an astonishing clip that kept the Knights’ defense gassed and guessing.

But it was the Parkway defense that set the tone. Junior defensive end Rod Johnson was a wrecking crew, tallying 3.5 sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss, and forcing a fumble in what may have been the night’s most dominant individual performance. Senior safety Mark Copenhaver added a tackle for loss, while linebacker Brady Prine chipped in steady tackling from the middle. By the final whistle, Parkway’s defense had surrendered just 128 total yards and forced multiple fumbles, one of which helped flip momentum completely in the Panthers’ favor.

The forced turnovers and constant pressure left Woodlawn searching for answers. The Knights’ lone touchdown came only after the game was already out of reach. Parkway’s front seven consistently collapsed the pocket, while the secondary kept Woodlawn receivers blanketed.

With the win, Parkway improves to 2–0 and shows every sign of being a contender in Division I. The Panthers’ offense is proving to be versatile, while their defense looks capable of dictating games outright. On Senior Night, the team sent a clear message: this group is more than just explosive—it’s complete.

Next up, Parkway will try to carry this momentum forward against cross-parish rival Haughton High School. If Friday night was any indication, the Bucs will need both luck and perfect execution to keep pace.
