Parkway triumps over Haughton in nailbiting matchup
Story by: Wes Merriott

HAROLD E. HARLON FIELD: Parkway High School and Haughton High School shares more than just a football game last week – both programs have a brotherly bond as well. Head Coaches Jason and Coy Brotherton facde off tonight in a fierce district – and family – rivalry.
Parkway had a slow start in the first half in a defensive struggle highlighting both teams ability to stifle powerful offenses. Haughton led 7-0 going into halftime, but lost a lot of momentum once play resumed.

Parkway scored quickly in the second half, tying the score and maintaining a close match up on offense. Both teams struggled to move the ball effectively in the third quarter, with Parkway trailing 14-7 going into the fourth.
A strong series by the Panthers tied the game, and it appeared to be going into overtime, when Parkway’s Aeron Burrell set up for a 50-yard field goal attempt with only 7 seconds remaining.
The number one ranked kicker in the United States for the class of 2024 didn’t disappoint, nailing the 50-yard with room to spare, sending the score to 17-14, and send the Parkway Panthers to 4-0.
Final score – Parkway 17, Haughton 14.
